Overseas Customs and Duty Charges

The Official Music Box Company is based in the UK.

Customers in the USA - you will be able to pre-pay Customs and Duties charges when you make a purchase in our shop.

All other overseas orders (except for Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg- see note below) will be sent with customs declarations and will be liable for handling charges, local customs taxes, VAT and import duties in the destination country, for which the buyer will be responsible for the payment of.

Important Information for EU Customers (Customs & Import Fees)

Please note that because we are a UK-based business, orders shipped to the EU are sent Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU).

From 1 July 2026, the European Union temporarily applies a flat €3 customs duty on all parcels under €150. As a result, you (the buyer) will be responsible for paying the following fees before your parcel can be delivered by your local postal service:

The €3 EU customs duty
Your country's local import VAT (calculated on your order total)
A local postal handling/clearance fee (charged by your local mail carrier for processing customs)

These fees are collected by your local postal authority at the border and are entirely outside of our control. If a package is rejected due to unpaid customs fees, any return shipping costs will be deducted from your refund.

Please refer to the website of your National Tax Authority for more information about local costs in your region.

Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg- we are currently unable to send parcels Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) due to Brexit rules beyond our control so you will need to pre-pay those charges when making a purchase from our shop. This information is correct as of 1 July 2026 but this may change in the near future.

We are keeping a close eye on any updates whilst we are pulling our hairs out in frustration like most small businesses in the UK. 😫
