‘Spike Island’ was released in April 2025 on Rough Trade Records and was taken from ‘More’, the band's first new album in 24 years. Produced by James Ford, the single met critical acclaim with The Guardian calling it “glorious, technicolour Pulp" and Clash Magazine adding that it "perfectly balances nostalgia and hope".
The song's lyrics discuss Jarvis’ discomforts with fame and his optimism towards the band's second reunion, with the title and chorus referencing the location of the legendary Stone Roses concert that took place in Widnes, Cheshire in the Spring of 1990.
